 VALERE ORMOND, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 

Valerie Ormond is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Veteran Writing Services, LLC. She retired as naval intelligence officer and launched her second career as a professional writer and consultant. In 2021, she launched her own publishing company, Veterans Publishing.

 

Ormond has worked as a consultant and writer for government, industry, and non-profit organizations. Clients have included the U.S. House of Representatives, Kforce Government Solutions, (KGS) Inc., Invictus International Consulting, LLC, Raytheon Technologies, WhiteHawk Inc., and more. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Veterans' Business Resource Center and the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA), and as Secretary of the Maryland Horse Council. In 2019, she received the MWSA's President's Award for outstanding contributions to the organization.

 

Numerous books, magazines, and newspapers have published Ormond's fiction and non-fiction stories and articles. Her two Young Adult fiction novels, Believing In Horses and Believing In Horses, Too, earned eight first place awards in international book contests including MWSA Gold Medals and the Maryland Horse Industry Board's Touch of Class Award. Her third novel, Believing In Horses Out West, released in October 2021, and made an Amazon #1 New Release on day one.

 

Ormond’s education includes a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College; a Master of Strategic Intelligence from the National  Intelligence University; and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Mass Communication from Towson University. She is also a graduate of Syracuse University’s Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) Program.
